I found this quite...overwhelming. And what does it all mean for church?

I saw this video a few months ago, I believe, but even then it wasn't too much of a surprise for me. Maybe because I spent the last 16 years in Information Technology and was a small part of a lot of the technological changes going on at that time.

What this means for the church? It kind of scares me that the average age of our clergy is so high. It makes me wonder how many pastors are unable to relate to youth and young adults and their world.

In IT, for instance, it's pretty common for many to change jobs every couple of years. It's a new paradigm where employers look at which skills they need for an upcoming project and hire based on that. Then, as that project wanes, the employee is either layed off, or if they're smart, they take the initiative to find where their skillset is most needed. These younger adults don't stay in one spot long enough to assimilate into (what I think is) typical church culture.

Peace,
Ray
